The brother of Ali Younesi who is a fourth-year computer science bachelor’s degree student at Sharif University of Technology in Tehran and winner of Olympiad medals, wrote on Twitter: “After not hearing of you for 24 days, I hope they did not stage a suicide for you.”
Ali Younesi’s brother tweeted:
“Yesterday and today, May 2 and 3, my father went to the Evin prison court, but he was not allowed inside. It is unclear what they are after for which my brother is not even allowed to call his family after 24 days. Dear Ali, we hope they did not stage a suicide for you.
During these days, my parents are under a lot of mental pressure because they can’t talk to their 20 year old child. Amid the coronavirus outbreak they have to go to different places on a daily basis, to maybe get some news about my brother. They have confiscated my father’s ID, bank card, mobile phone and car and do not give it back to him.
Today, my father has sent a letter to the prosecutor’s office asking them to return his belongings. They told him: “Come tomorrow.”
They have turned life into mental and physical abuse for my parents. If there was a bit of justice and the security forces were not aiming to butcher the youth, my brother would not have been arrested and my family would not have experienced the current situation.”
It is to be noted that:
Amir Hossein Moradi, a fourth-year bachelor’s degree student in physics, and Ali Younesi, a fourth-year computer science bachelor’s degree student at Sharif University of Technology in Tehran, both winners of national and world Olympiad medals, were arrested and transferred to an unknown location by security forces.
The reasons for the arrest, the charges against the two students and their whereabouts are unknown.
On Friday evening, April 10, 2020, twelve agents arrested them by attacking them with beatings after searching their houses without a warrant. The invasion was so brutal that the IRGC split Ali Younesi’s forehead open.
Amir Hossein Moradi won the silver medal of the National Astronomy Olympiad in 2018 and Ali Younesi won the silver medal of the National Astronomy Olympiad in 2017 and the gold medal of the 2018 Astronomy Olympiad. Ali Younesi also won a gold medal at the 12th World Astronomy and Astrophysics Olympiad in China, which filled Iran with pride.
Amid the coronavirus crisis, the parents of these young students are looking for their children in different prisons for 24 days, but have not obtained any information.
