Hedayat Abdollahpour was transferred from the political prisoners’ ward of Orumiyeh Central Prison to an unknown location on May 10, 2020. His family, who have not had any contact with him, is worried that his sentence may have been carried out.
All the efforts of the political prisoner’s family to find out about his situation have been ineffective so far.
On Tuesday May 12, 2020, the head of the prison said to the prisoner’s family who followed up on his condition that he had been transferred out of the prison by the IRGC’s intelligence forces, and that they would have to go to injunction to follow up on his case.
During Hedayat Abdullahpour’s family’s appeal to the Revolutionary Court, the assistant prosecutor had told Hedayat’s wife in threatening and sarcastic tone: “the intelligence ministry will not answer you, look for him in the cemetery!’’
Amnesty International issued a statement on Wednesday, May 13, 2020, warning of the dangers of the secret execution of four political prisoners, including Hedayat Abdollahpour and demanded that the Iranian regime must immediately reveal the truth about their fate and whereabouts. Amnesty also demanded that violent acts and reconsideration of the execution against the political prisoners must be stopped.
Hedayat Abdollahpour was arrested along with at least six others in a village near Oshnavieh city, West Azerbaijan province, on June 15, 2016. The seven detainees were accused of providing food and shelter to members of the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran during clashes with the Revolutionary Guards.
His sentence was overturned by the 47th Branch of the Supreme Court and referred to the second Branch of the Islamic Revolutionary Court of Orumiyeh for review. Hedayat was again sentenced to death charged with ‘’Moharebeh’’ (waging war against God) by this branch, and on January 10, 2018, the sentence was finally upheld by the 47th Branch of the Supreme Court.
His family and relatives believe that the reason for his death sentence is Orumiyeh’s IRGC pressure to protect their information.
