Following recent riots in prisons across the country, panic has spread through government officials. According to “No to prison – No to execution”, 50 Special Forces wearing green uniforms were sent to Greater Tehran Prison (Fashafouyeh) around noon on Saturday, April 4, 2020, in fear of new rebellions. They searched through for 20 minutes in halls and wards of the prison to create an atmosphere of horror and fear.
After riots and protests of 12 prisons across Iran and the successful escape of numerous prisoners, the regime intends to create terror among prisoners and simultaneously overcome the fear of his own forces through various methods.
The security measures taken by the judiciary system differ from city to city.
In the Greater Tehran Prison, guards raid the wards every night and phone calls are restricted. The IRGC forces have taken control and are stationed there since Monday, March 30, intimidating prisoners by creating an atmosphere of terror. Revolutionary guards have stationed paratroopers on both sides of the prison, and terrorize prisoners by sounding sirens and making loud noises with their motorcycles between 23:00 to 24:00 o’clock.
Prisoners have been told that these forces were issued orders to execute and open fire on anyone seen in the prison area.
In Ghezel Hesar prison of Karaj, guards are on alert. DShK heavy machine guns and other weapons are installed on the roof of the prison and ready to shoot. In order to scare prisoners, they fire dummy rounds in prison grounds. Cells have been raided and the prisoners’ belongings are thrown in the outside area.
In Orumiyeh Central Prison guards are doubled, entries and exits are fully controlled. Special Forces are deployed around the prison and numerous firearms are installed on the roof of the facility. Communication between cells is cut off.
In Saravan and Zahedan prison Special Forces are deployed in- and outside of the prison.
