Immediate execution of a prisoner in Karaj

According to “No to Prison – No to Execution”, an inmate named Farhad Salehi was transferred to solitary confinement on Wednesday, June 17, 2020, for his death sentence to be carried out.
His hanging is supposed to take place on Saturday, June 20.
The prisoner is charged with sodomy. Despite his lawyer and family’s efforts to clear the case, revealance that the forensic doctor’s report was ambiguous and the plaintiff officially withdrew his complaint, Farhad Salehi was still transferred to solitary confinement to serve his death sentence.
“No to Prison – No to Execution” strongly condemns death and flogging sentences, and demands for these inhuman and cruel acts to be stopped.
According to Amnesty International, Iran ranks second in executions.
The death penalty has been rejected under international laws and declarations, including Article 5 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which states that no one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment.
This is at least the 17th execution since the last 27 days. On Wednesday at least 7 prisoners were hanged.
“No to Prison – No to Execution” strongly condemns death sentences for any reason and under any pretext, and emphasizes that they must be stopped.
