Second execution in one day – Mashhad Prison
On Wednesday, July 8, 2020, another prisoner charged with murder was hanged in Mashhad prison.
According to Rokna News Agency, Javad A.’s death sentence was carried out in Mashhad prison on Wednesday, July 8, 2020.
The 42 years old’s case was opened in September 2017 when he murdered his wife. He was a municipal worker and an addict.
He was sentenced to death by the Mashhad Public and Revolutionary prosecutor’s office, and the verdict was eventually upheld by the Supreme Court.
Another prisoner was executed on charges of drinking alcohol at the same day.
This is the 129th execution since the beginning of the year 2020.
Article 5 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights states: “No one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment.”
The corrupted Iranian regime is responsible for these crimes. By promoting poverty and corruption, it leads people to such violent act, and imposes them inhumane death sentences such as flogging, imprisonment, and amputation under the pretext of “punishment.”
Iran has the highest number of executions in proportion to its population.
