The death sentence of a 62-year-old prisoner was carried out in Mashhad Central Prison.
According to the Human Rights Center of No to prison, no to execution, cited by Rokna state-run News Agency, on Sunday morning, November 8, 2020, a 62-year-old prisoner was executed in Mashhad Central Prison. The prisoner was sentenced to 15 years in prison and 100 lashes for the murder of an 11-year-old child.
The prisoner was arrested on February 2, 2017 for murdering and at the time of the arrest he was 60 years old. He was detained in Mashhad Central Prison before his execution. His lawyer objected to the verdict issued in Mashhad court, but the decision was approved by the Supreme Court and was executed this morning in Mashhad Central Prison.
Thus, according to the Statistics Center of the Human Rights Center of No to prison, no to execution, at least 226 prisoners have been executed since the beginning of this year. However, the actual number is probably more than the number announced since many of the executions that take place in the medieval prisons of the Velayat-e-Faqih are not even recorded or announced at all and are carried out in secret.

According to this article, no one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment.
Also, referring to Article 6 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, the right to life is an inherent human right. This right must be protected by law. No person can be arbitrarily deprived of life.

According to news and statistics compiled and recorded by the Human Rights Center of No to prison, no to execution, at least 308 executions have been carried out between September 2019 and October 2020.
