Nationwide protest; retirees and pensioners of Social Welfare Organization
The nationwide protest gathering of retirees and pensioners of the Social Welfare Organization took place on various cities of Iran on Wednesday April 7, 2021, in front of the organization’s buildings.
This nationwide protest took place in cities of Karaj, Tehran, Qazvin, Khoram Abad, Ardebil, Ahvaz, Sa’ri, Andimeshk, Rasht, Tabriz, Ilam, Isfahan, Irak, Shahrood, Dezful, Shooshtar, Kermanshah, Yazd, Neyshaboor, Kerman, Urmia and Khoram Abad.
The retirees chanted: “Outcry, outcry of this much of injustice” and “We won’t vote, all we heard is lies.”
Their placards read: “With a base wage of 1.8 million tomans while the poverty line is 10 million tomans the pensioners and retirees cannot support their lives.”
Birjand- On April 7, 2021, protest gathering took place in front of Birjand Industrial University by students to oppose the merge of two departments of Science and Engineering. This protest has lasted for several days.
The Engineering department of this university especially the Mine and Agriculture Departments are from the oldest departments of the east of Iran. For budget cut they are going to be merged.
Tehran- On Wednesday April 7, 2021, the owners of shops selling chicken gathered in protest in from of the related ministry to protest its decision as not to dice the chickens in factories before getting to the shops. One of their placards read: “10000 workers have lost their jobs. The dicing and packaging, despite of its threat for public hygiene, is done in basements instead of factories.”
Gilan- On Tuesday April 6, 2021, 1400 graduated teachers in Gilan gathered to protest not receiving their salary for years between their services. One of them said: “All of us know this. Is it our fault that there are gaps between our services? This is not our fault. Why should we pay its price?”
