Protest gathering on the Global Labor Day in various cities of Iran
Protest gatherings with the slogan of “We will not vote any more, all we have heard is lies” was held on the Global Labor Day in various cities of Iran. Cities including Tehran, Isfahan, Karaj, Irak, Mashhad, Khoram Abad, Marivan, Kermanshah, Haft-Tapeh, Tabriz, Sanandaj, Rasht, Broojerd, Qazvin, Sari and Ilam witnessed these protest gatherings.
The participants chanted: “The government of looters is the workers’ enemy,” “we will not stop until we gain our rights” and “our enemy is right here, they lie when they say it is America.”
As the number of the participants rose, the plainclothes were stationed in front of the Labor Ministry and around it in Tehran.
Reports say that at least 30 workers were detained in Tehran and Sanandaj.
In Tehran at Azadi Terminal, a group of the drivers, laborers and retirees disembarked the buses, opened their placards and started chanting slogans. One of the ladies said: “My compatriots, join us, today is a day to call for justice.”
In Mashhad, the workers and the retirees chanted: “They promise change but they result in discrimination.”
A group of the mothers of November 2019 protests’ victims gathered at the residence of Mrs. Gohar Eshqi, the mother of the slain laborer, Sattar Behashti who was tortured to death, and honored the Labor Day.
