Nationwide protests of retirees of the Welfare Organization
Since the morning of Sunday May 9, 2021, the retirees of the Welfare Organization staged protest gatherings. The protests were called for from before. The retirees and pensioners of the welfare organization gathered in protest in various cities including: Tehran, Karaj, Sanandaj, Kermanshah, Rasht, Tabriz, Shoosh, Haft-Tapeh, Shiraz, Isfahan and Bandar Abbas.
In Tehran there was a tight security measures in front of the Welfare Organization. At 1030 of Sunday May 9, the SSF was stationed in front of the Welfare Organization in Tehran.
In Tabriz a protester said: “Just now two colonels came and said: “Because of the election we will not permit any gatherings anymore.””
The retirees chanted: “Jailed laborer must be released,” “We will not vote anymore, all we have heard is lies” and “Retiree rise against oppression and discrimination.”
Bandar Abbas- On May 9, 2021, the high school students gathered in protest in front of the Education Bureau of Bandar Abbas county. The plainclothes collected the cellphone of those who taped the gathering but the students didn’t leave the scene and continued their protests.
Mamasani- On May 8, 2021, 9 and 12 graders in Mamasani County gathered to protest the fact that the exams will be taken collectively and in person.
Hashtgerd- A group of high school students in Hashtgerd gathered in protest as they have to take their exams in person amid pandemic. The plainclothes took some of them to rooms at the Education Bureau, interrogated them and threatened them not to have any other gathering.
Kashmar in Khorasan Razavi Province- Locals of “Hossein Abad” gathered in front of the governorate to protest the fact that they are not able to use gas and other urban facilities.
