Execution in month of Muharram in Qom resulted in strong protest from the family in front of Qom Central which led into a clash.
The human right center of “No to Prison- No to Execution” reported that on Tuesday, August 24, 2021, Amir Ali Hosseini, charged with murder, was executed at Qom Central Prison.
This 25-year-old youth was charged with murder and was jailed for two years at Qom Central Prison. An informed source said that he was innocent and had not committed any murder.
In the morning of August 24, 2021, the family of this inmate protested in front of the Qom Central Prison to stop the execution. The prison guards were present there to stop this protest from spreading into the prison.
After the family noticed that their child has been executed they clashed with the agents protesting the execution of Amir Ali Hosseini.
An informed source said that the prison authorities did not deliver the body to the family and in this way they put pressure on them to disperse.
When they dispersed the body was given to cemetery to be washed and prepared for burial.
This execution is not announced by any official media.
Adding this execution, the number of executions since the onset of Persian year 1400 (March 21, 2021) has reached at least 130.
The human rights center of No to Prison-No to Execution calls for complete revocation of this inhuman punishment. Death sentence is the most inhumane, brutal and mortifying kind of punishment; it violates the right to life, recognized by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
According to Amnesty International more than two thirds of the world’s nations (144 countries) have revoked the death sentence or don’t execute it in practice, but the execution machine in Iran speeds up on daily basis. With Ibrahim Raisi becoming the president and Eje’ee as the head of the Judiciary, the execution of death sentences has speeded up.
Death Sentence, for any reason and on any excuse is in violation of international laws and must be stopped and totally rescinded.
