Number of Rajaee Shahr executions; has reached seven including three women.
According to an earlier report on Wednesday, September 8, 2021, the number of people executed at Rajaee Shahr Prison was 3. It was now revealed in a supplementary report that the number of those executed was seven, including three women.
The human rights center of “No to Prison- No to Execution”, Javanehha.com website had announced on Wednesday, September 8, that three prisoners with unknown identities had been executed at Rajaee Shahr Prison.
Now this human rights website has reported that the number of people executed in Rajaee Shahr on Wednesday, September 8, was a total of seven, including three women.
Among those executed at Rajaee Shahr Prison, three women were also executed. So far, it is not clear from which prison these women were transferred to Rajaee Shahr Prison for execution.
According to the same report, the execution of the three women took place hours after the execution of the men, and it is likely that the charge against them was murder. According to this report, one of the prisoners, Abdolrahim Khani, was sentenced to death on narcotic related crimes. He was transferred to Rajaee Shahr Prison from Qezel Hesar Prison in Karaj and was held in Ward 2 of this prison, known as Dar al-Qoran, before his execution. According to this report, the prisoner was sentenced to death on the charge of “one and a half tons of heroin.”
State-run news agencies announced only one of the executions, which was related to the murder charge in a bogus accident, without naming the person. The rest of the executions have not yet been announced in any official government source.
Considering the increase in the number of people executed in Rajaee Shahr, at least 143 people have been executed since the beginning of Persian year 1400 (March 21, 2021).
According to Amnesty International’s annual report, more than two-thirds of the world’s countries (144 countries) have now abolished the death penalty or have practically stopped its execution. But the execution machine in Iran is accelerating every day, and with Ebrahim Raisi’s presidency and the Eje’ee’s presidency over the Judiciary, executions have accelerated.
The death penalty, for any reason and on any excuse, violates the international laws and must be abolished and stopped completely.
