According to the reports, the number of execution in Shiraz has increased and four other prisoners have been hanged in Adelabad Prison in Shiraz. The death sentences of two other prisoners are also imminent. One prisoner, who has been under the death sentence for 16 years and is tired of being under the death penalty, said, “I have spared my own blood, either release me or execute me sooner to be relieved.”
According to the human rights center of “No to Prison-No to Execution”, quoting HRANA, in recent weeks, four other prisoners, Rasoul Akrami, Omid Keshtkar, Meysam Atef-fard, and Hadi Razi, were executed at Adelabad Prison in Shiraz on drug charges. In addition, two prisoners, Mostafa Ostovari and Ruhollah Akbarpoor, were transferred to solitary confinement to be executed.
Rasoul Akrami, a resident of Marvdasht, was arrested for murder 16 years ago and was executed in the Hijri lunar month of Safar. His plaintiff was a government agent. Also, a day later, Omid Keshtkar, who had been detained for the previous three years, was executed.
According to this report, Meysam Atef-fard and Hadi Razi were executed about 20 days ago.
In addition to the prisoners who were executed, two prisoners accused of murder, Mostafa Ostovari and Ruhollah Akbarpoor, are awaiting execution.
Mostafa Ostovari, accused of murder, has been transferred to solitary confinement in Adelabad Prison in Shiraz in recent days to be executed. The sentence is likely to be carried out on Saturday, October 2, 2020.
According to one source, the death sentence of Ruhollah Akbarpoor, the defendant of a murder case who has been in prison for 16 years, may soon be carried out.
According to the source, “Mr. Akbarpoor, who has been tired of years of imprisonment under the death penalty, recently wrote to the authorities asking for his sentence to be carried out soon. “I have spared my own blood, either release me or execute me sooner to be relieved,” he said.
All of these executions were carried out in secret and have not been published in any official media.
Considering the 4 execution in Shiraz, at least 166 people have been executed since the beginning of 1400 (March 21, 2021).
The death penalty, for any reason and excuse, violates international law and must be abolished and stopped completely.
According to Amnesty International’s annual report, more than two-thirds of the world’s countries (144 countries) have now abolished the death penalty in law or in practice. But the execution machine in Iran is accelerating every day, and with Ebrahim Raisi’s presidency and the Eje’ee’s presidency over the Judiciary, executions have accelerated.
