Political prisoner Abolhasan Montazer, in dire health condition, was shackled in his feet to the hospital bed.
Political prisoner Abolhasan Montazer was sent to the hospital from Rajai-Shahr Prison in inhumane conditions and shackled in feet. This comes at a time that this political prisoner has had an open-heart surgery a while ago, suffers from type 1 diabetes and the closure of the vessels on hands and feet.
According to reports received by the human rights center of “No to Prison- No to Execution”, on Saturday, November 20, 2021, political prisoner Abolhasan Montazer was transferred as an emergency case from Rajai-Shahr Prison to Rajai-Shahr Hospital due to poor health conditions. The reason for his dispatch to an out-of-prison hospital was his acute heart condition, which has led to an open-heart surgery a while ago.
This political prisoner, who must be subjected to “intolerance of prison conditions”, and released due to his physical conditions, is kept in Rajai-Shahr Prison under inhumane conditions. Mr. Abolhasan Montazer, over 61, has diabetes and must inject insulin every 12 hours. He has vascular congestion in his feet and hands and is constantly faced with both burning and cold in his bones.
However, on the orders of the warden, the officers chained his legs, both while he was sent to the hospital and when he was admitted to the emergency section. Despite his insistence that the chain causes severe burning and pain in his legs, they did not pay any attention to his problem.
Political prisoner Abolhassan Montazer, when faced with such circumstances in the hospital and seeing that his protest is not heard, asked to be returned to prison.
Abolhassan Montazer is currently suffering from a dire health condition at Rajai-Shahr Prison, even worse than the time that he was deployed to the hospital and is in a very dangerous condition. He is not even able to move.
The human rights center of “No to Prison- No to Execution” holds Iran regime’s Judiciary authorities, especially the prosecutor allocated for Rajai-Shahr prison and its warden responsible for the life of this political prisoner. They must be held accountable for his life.
Seyyed Abolhasan Montazer, born in 1959, was arrested in 2018 on charges of having connections with PMOI/MEK. He was interrogated in Evin Prison. This political prisoner was sentenced to five years in prison on charges of “propaganda against the regime” and “links to the Mojahedin-e-Khalq Organization (PMOI/MEK)”.
Political prisoner, Abolhasan MOntazer, who was released on a heavy bail, was re-arrested in November 2020 to serve his prison term and is currently detained in Rajai-Shahr Prison.
