To protest the pressures imposed on him by the MOIS, Political prisoner, Hooshmand Alipoor continues his hunger strike.
News from Sanandaj Prison indicates the continuation of Hooshmand Alipoor’s hunger strike in protest to the involvement of the city’s Intelligence Directorate in his case.
The human rights center of “No to Prison- No to Execution”, November 20, 2021- In protest to deprivation of the right to leave and the Information Intelligence Directorate’s meddling in his case, political prisoner, Hooshmand Alipoor, started his hunger strike on Tuesday November 16, 2021.
Hezhar Alipoor, the brother of this political prisoner, told the human rights center of “No to Prison- No to Execution”, “The execution decree issued for Hooshmand Alipoor was void on September 16, 2021. The file was referred to branch No.2 of Sanandaj Revolutionary Court, through which this political prisoner was sentenced to 38 months in jail.
However, after five days, on September 21, the same court tried him again in the presence of the political prisoner’s lawyer, and this time, the judge, for no reason, lifted the sentence of 38 months and issued him an eight-year prison sentence.”
Hezhar Alipoor added: “This sentence is not related to any new case or charge, only the previous charges, namely “Baghi, membership in the party or group opposed to the regime and propaganda against the regime”. For these charges he was sentenced to 16 years in prison and then to death and this sentence was communicated to his lawyer. Mohammad Ostad-Qader, the co-defendant in Hooshmand’s case, was released, but Hooshmand is still in prison. They cancelled his death sentence, but under pressure from the Intelligence Office and the Kurdistan Prosecutor’s Office, he was sentenced to eight years in prison and in fact he is taken hostage.”
Hezhar Alipoor added: “Hooshmand is currently on his fourth day of hunger strike (November 20). He went on a hunger strike because of the mistreatment and inhumane treatment towards him, the involvement of Sanandaj Intelligence Directorate in his case, and the rejection of a leave request by Branch Four of the Department of the Enforcement of Criminal Decrees of Sanandaj.
“The head of the prison and the security authorities at Sanandaj Prison had asked Hooshmand to end his hunger strike, but Hooshmand continued his hunger strike at the urging, worrying our family.”
“Hooshmand’s death sentence that was commuted to 38 months in prison, is finished to this day. However, the 38-month prison sentence was met with objections from Sanandaj Intelligence Directorate and pressure from government officials in Tehran. The judge of the case under duress and high threats from government officials, tried Hooshmand again in the presence of his lawyer, and changed Hooshmand’s sentence to a total of eight years in prison.”
It is worth noting that Hooshmand Alipoor’s younger brother, Zhian Alipoor a Kolbar (border porter) was murdered by government agents on October 14, 2021. His family launched a campaign of litigation.
Regarding Zhian’s murder, Mr. Alipoor said, “On one hand, we are litigating for our son, Zhian, who was assassinated and actually executed on October 14, and on the other hand, we demand Hooshmand’s immediate release. The government is using hooshmand as a hostage to threaten us, and for this reason, they have subjected him to psychological pressure through heinous and inhumane treatment. That’s why Hooshmand is on a hunger strike.”
