Eight executions in three days marked the end of the month of Day (December 22, 2021- January 20, 2022) under the Iran theocratic regime.
Eight inmates; one in Zahedan Prison, three in Zabol prison, three in Ilam prison and one in Dehdasht prison were executed during January 18 to 20, 2022 in Iran.
The human rights center of “No to Prison- No to Execution”- At dawn of Thursday January 20, a Baluch inmate, Edris Gomshad-Zehi, on charge of murder in Zahedan Prison, and three Baluch inmates; Parviz Akbari Rud, Jmaleddin Gorgij and Dadshah Sarani on drug related charges, in Zabol prison, were executed.
Also on Wednesday, January 19, three Kurd inmates; Hamed Manouchehri, Sobhan Shohani and Mohammad Karim-Nezhad were executed in Ilam Central Prison on charge of murder.
On Tuesday, January 18, an inmate Parviz Khodadadi was executed in Dehdasht prison on charge of murder.
Execution in Zahedan Prison
At dawn on January 20, 2022, Edris Gomshad-Zehi with registered birth certificate name, Abdolhamid Solmazehi Koorani was executed in Zahedan prison.
About five years ago, Edris was detained along with Khodanazar Qanbarzehi (Anwar) during a clash with regime’s agents.
According to Haalwash website, two years ago Edris and Anwar were sentenced to death in a Zahedan court. They objected the decree, and the case was sent to the Supreme Court, which upheld it.
Edris Gomashad-Zehi was 40 years old, married with six children. He was the son of Laskaran from Koorin region.
Mr. Qanbarzehi was executed about a year ago.
Three executions in Zabol prison
At dawn of Thursday January 20, 2022, two Baluch inmates, Parviz Akbari Rud and Jamaleddin Gorgij and another Baluch prisoner, Dadshah Sarani were executed in Zabol prison on narcotic related charges and on charge of murder respectively.
Parviz Akbari Rud (Mohmammad Shahbakhsh Daroozehi), 34, son of Arbab Mohammad from Zahedan was married. It is said that his family were able to visit him for the last time.
According to Haalvsh website, at the time of arrest, the police force in Lootak-Zabol road shot him in his left arm. After he was deployed to a hospital and the bullet was taken out, he was transferred to ward three of Zabol Prison.
Parviz was sentenced to death in 2020 by Zabol Revolutionary Court. He was taken to solitary confinement for execution on January 19, from ward 2 of Zabol Prison known as “Taghzi”.
Jamaleddin Gorgij, 40, from Zabol, was married. He was detained in Zabol in 2019 and was sentenced to death at Zabol Revolutionary Court in 2020.
Another Baluch inmate, Dadshah Sarani, who was detained in 2013 by Zabol investigation bureau and was sentenced to death at a criminal court, was executed in Zabol Central Prison on Thursday, January 20.
Dadshah Sarani, 45, from Doost Mohammad Village in Zabol was married.
Resanak News website quoting an informed source about his execution wrote: “Dadshah had not committed murder, but a relative of his did. He ran away so they couldn’t catch him.”
Three executions in Ilam
At dawn on Wednesday, January 19, 2022, three Kurd inmates; Hamed Manouchehri, Sobhan Shohani and Mohammad Karim-Nezhad were executed in Ilam Central Prison on charge of murder.
Hengaw human rights organization reported that Hamed Manouchehri from Mehran was detained two years ago on charge of murder, Sobhan Shohani and Mohammad Karim-Nezhad from Ilam were detained on charge of murder four and seven years ago respectively. They were all sentenced to death by Islamic Republic’s Judiciary.
Execution in Dehdasht
At dawn on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, Parviz Khodadadi was executed on charge of murder in Dehdasht prison in Lorestan Province.
He was from Borj Alishir Village of Dehdasht and was detained and jailed since 2019.
Eight execution in three days only, took place in various prisons of Islamic Republic on charges of murder and narcotic related charges.
None of these executions are announced by Iran regime’s state-run media. Most of the execution are carried out covertly, so there is possibility of even more executions.
Counting in these 8 executions, the number of executions since the beginning of the month of Day is at least 39.
According to the statistic center of the human rights center of “No to Prison- No to Execution” at least 350 executions have been carried out in 2021 under Iran regime, an average of one execution per day.
More than two-thirds of the world’s countries (144 countries) have now abolished or stopped the death penalty in law, according to Amnesty International’s annual report. But the execution machine in Iran is accelerating every day, and with Ebrahim Raisi’s presidency and the Ejei presidency over the judiciary, executions have accelerated.
