Political prisoner, Adel Kianpoor lost his life on hunger strike due to negligence of Shaiban Prison authorities
After being on hunger strike for a week, political prisoners, Adel Kianpoor, lost his life as the Shaiban Pirson authorities deprived him of medical care.
The human rights center of “No to Prison- No to Execution”, quoting informed sources reported that political prisoner Adel Kianpoor who had been on hunger strike since Saturday, December 25, 2021, lost his life after a week on Saturday January 1, 2022, due to the negligence of Shaiban Prison authorities in Ahvaz, providing no medical care for him. He went on hunger strike to protest the oppression and being deprived of a leave. His protest was also in reaction to the unjust judicial process of his case and violation of the principle of Separation of Crimes, in his case.
According to reports, political prisoner, Adel Kianpoor was detained in mid-summer of 2020 by security forces in Ahvaz and was taken to the MOIS detention center in this city. He was denied a lawyer throughout his interrogation.
Political prisoner, Adel Kianpoor, was sentenced to three years in jail on charge of “propagating against the state” and “disrupting public opinion with the intention to disrupt the state’s security”. He was under physical and psychological torture during his interrogation.
Adel was the provider for his family, a mother and three younger sister and a younger brother.
It is to be mentioned that political prisoner, Adel Kianpoor, has contracted coronavirus in early fall of 2021 but the only care he had received was to be taken to the section where coronavirus infected inmates were kept, with no medical treatment.
About his hunger strike, political prisoner, Adel Kianpoor, has explained: “I, Adel Kianpoor, a political prisoner, will officially start my hunger strike on December 25. I announce it to the public and to human rights organizations. This hunger strike is in line with the goals of the Charter of Human Rights, to confront the brutality that reins in my country; in the name of the country and the nation, and in the name of justice».
