A prisoner with mental disability has been kept in solitary confinement by MOIS for a 1.5 years under torture and pressure for case-making.
Reports say that a prisoner with mental disability (document of his problem existing) is kept in solitary confinement by the order of MOIS (Ministry of Intelligence and Security) in Gohardasht Prison for case-making.
The human rights center of “No to Prison- No to Execution”, January 19, 2022- Seyyed Shahab Sharifi Nasab an inmate from Ahvaz, has been kept by MOIS for a year and half in solitary confinement in Gohardasht Prison, despite his severe mental disorders, for case-making.
Seyyed Shahab Sharifi Nasab, born and residing in Ahvaz and son of Ahmad, was detained on May 15, 2014. He is suffering from severe mental problems. After his father, mother, sister and brother-in-law were detained and went under pressure, he confessed against himself under torture and was forced to participated in a documentary, showing that he had tried to bomb somewhere.
Shahab was first charged with membership in an Ahvazi group but later his accusation changed to being a supporter of ISIS.
Though he has a case of mental disorders by the Ahvaz Naft Hospital and his family have informed the prosecutors of it time and again, but not only their complaint has reached nowhere but also this prisoner has been severely harassed in prison.
On June 25, 2020, Shahab was taken to solitary confinement of the Security Ward in Gohardasht Prison (Rajai Shahr Prison) and was eventually transferred to ward7 of the prison after 17 months, on December 7, 2021.
Under various pretexts, he has been beaten by Moharrami, responsible for the MOIS Ward; Shahbazi, the prison’s bookkeeper and, Mohsen Mansouri and Ehsan Doost, the prison’s officers which has worsened his condition. In one of the beatings his pelvis broke.
Seyyed Shahab Sharifi Nasab, is sentenced to 15 years in jail by Revolutionary Court on charge of Baghi. He has been deprived of having a lawyer in all the judiciary process of his case (detention, interrogation and trial).
Once again, the human rights center of “No to Prison- No to Execution” urges the international human rights organizations, European Parliament, Mrs. Bachelet the UN High Commissioner of Human Rights and Mr. Javaid Rehman, the Especial Rapporteur on the Situation of Human Rights in Iran to send an investigative humanitarian mission to visit Iran’s prisons. Life of the prisoners in general and political prisoners in particular, is at stake in Iran regime’s inhumane prisons.
