While Iran’s judiciary has not only not abolished or halted death sentences, regardless of all international law, it also issues a death sentence for any type of murder without considering the reason of the murder of the circumstances in which the murder took place.
According to government agencies and media, many of these murders have no reason other than poverty and institutionalized corruption in the society, which is caused by this government that issues and executes death sentences.
According to the Statistics Center of the Human Rights Center of “No to Prison- No to Execution”, at least 350 known executions were carried out in Iran in 2021, an average of one execution per day.
More than two-thirds of the world’s countries (144 countries) have now abolished or stopped the death penalty in law, according to Amnesty International’s annual report. But the execution machine in Iran is accelerating every day, and with Ebrahim Raisi’s presidency and the Ejei presidency over the judiciary, executions have accelerated.
The dossier of human rights violation of this regime must be referred to United Nations Security Council to hold this regime to account.
