The human rights center of “No to Prison- No to Execution”, March 5, 2022- According to reports, two prisoners in Khalkhal and Ahvaz prisons are at risk of imminent execution. One of these prisoners is Majed Amouri, who was transferred to solitary confinement in Sheiban Prison in Ahvaz to be executed. Another prisoner is Asghar Habibi, who is scheduled to be executed in Khalkhal Prison on March 8th.

According to Khakzadegan website, Majed Amouri, a prisoner on death row who was previously sentenced to death by the Ahvaz Revolutionary Court for the murder of a SSF (State Security Force) officer while assisting his brother, was transferred to solitary confinement for execution.
On Saturday, March 5, 2022, Majed Amouri, son of Naji, a 23-year-old man from Ramshir, sentenced to death, was transferred to the quarantine section of Shaiban Prison in Ahvaz and it is likely that his execution be carried out in secrecy.
According to this report, Majed Amouri clashed with security forces in 2018 to protest the arrest of his teenage brother Rasoul Amouri and was subsequently sentenced to death by the Ahvaz Revolutionary Court on charges of armed action and clashes with the passengers of the car in which his brother was taken away consequently killing a SSF officer named Navid Haqiqatshenas.

According to Haalvsh News Agency, the death sentence of a prisoner, Asghar Habibi, accused of murder, who has repeatedly emphasized on his innocence, is scheduled to be carried out in Khalkhal Prison on March 8, 2022.
According to this report, Asghar Habibi, 30, known as Hamid, son of Abu Mohammad and from Khalkhal, was arrested by the SSF in Khalkhal in late 2012 for murder and sentenced to death by the Criminal Court of Ardebil in 2017.
The death sentence of Asghar Habibi, despite the lack of evidence regarding the proof of the crime, has been upheld by the Supreme Court and Asghar has been put on death row.
Asghar Habibi is said to have repeatedly objected to the outrageous sentence, stated that he was innocent of murder, but the court issued the verdict regardless of sufficient evidence and without hearing the defendant’s statements.
Asghar Habibi stated that he was not present in Khalkhal at the time of the murder and provided sufficient evidence about his innocence. He has also stated that the drug officers were the perpetrators of the murder because the victim was a drug dealer and had repeated clashes with SSF officers and was threatened to death by them, but the court did not pay any attention to these statements. The death sentence is going to be carried out despite the defendant’s innocence.The human rights center of “No to Prison- No to Execution”, has warned against executions of innocents and completely unfair trials, and calls on the international community to pressure the Iran regime to halt inhumane death sentences.
