Hamzeh Darvish deprived of contact family, in addition to new conviction and pressure to make forced confessions
In addition to a new case and conviction, Hamzeh Darvish was deprived of contact with his family in Rasht’s Lakan prison
The human rights center of “No to Prison- No to Execution”, April 1, 2022- In the early days of Persian new year, starting March 21, 2022, on the order of Rasht Lakan Prison’s authorities, political prisoner and prisoner of conscience, Hamzeh Darvish was deprived of contact with his family in addition to facing a new case and sentence.
Hamzeh Darvish was tried and sentenced to additional imprisonment in last days of year 1400 (March 21, 2021-March 20, 2022) while a verdict was issued against him in absentia, and he was under the pressure of prison agents to make a forced and false confession.
On March 5, 2022, he was informed that he had been sentenced to 18 months and one day in prison on charges of “insulting Khamenei and Khomeini” and seven months for “propaganda against the state.”
In February, Hamzeh Darvish participated in an interrogation session through a videoconference, in March, in a communiqué issued by Branch One of the Rasht Revolutionary Court, headed by Judge Darvish-Goftar he was imparted:
“Regarding the Rasht MOIS Directorate’s reference report against you, charging you with propaganda against the Islamic Republic of Iran and insulting the Supreme Leader (Ali Khamenei) and insulting the founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran (Khomeini) you should be present on March 2, 2022, at this branch for investigation.”
According to an informed source, prisoner of conscience Hamzeh Darvish attempted to get two lawyers for the new case. In the end, however, none of his lawyers were allowed access to the case.
The source added: “On Wednesday, March 2, 2022, Hamzeh Darvish was summoned and told that “our internet connection to the Revolutionary Court has been cut, and because the prosecutor ordered us not to take you and other prisoners there in person, sit in front of the camera and read this text we wrote against the media abroad! We will film it and take it to the judicial authority to issue a verdict for you! You may also be acquitted with these words!” Hamzeh Darvish, rejected this false confession in front of the camera.
The source also added: “After rejecting the false confession, Hamzeh Darwish was asked to write a defense bill within two hours. In this way, he has been denied the court and self-defense, and the court has issued an absentee ruling against him.
About the political prisoner of conscience of Hamzeh Darvish imprisoned in Lakan Prison in Rasht:
Sunni political prisoner Hamzeh Darwish, 28, is serving a 15-year sentence in Rasht Lakan prison. On May 12, 2020, Hamzeh Darvish was transferred from Rajai Shahr Prison in Karaj to Lakan Prison in Rasht by force, where he was under pressure and tortured for cooperating with MOIS (the Ministry of Intelligence and Security).
He had previously gone on hunger strike on July 20, 2020, in protest against the lack of prison authorities’ compliance with the principle of “segregation of crimes”, requesting his return to Rajai Shahr Prison in Karaj.
Mr. Hamzeh Darvish had written an open letter to the Special Rapporteur on Human Rights in Iran, Mr. Javaid Rehman, about threats against him at the prison and the MOIS demands for his cooperation. He had asked that the human rights official intervene to save his life.
It is worth noting that on Friday, November 19, 2021, in an audio message recalling the bloods shed in November 2019 protests, political prisoner Hamzeh Darvish from Lakan Prison in Rasht, emphasized on the prosecution of the criminal heads of the Velayat-e Faqih regime and said, “With all my power, I will continue my fight against the criminal, terrorist Khamenei.”
On January 26, 2022, political prisoner, Hamzeh Darvish, in a statement from Rasht Lakan Prison, asked The Special Rapporteur on Human Rights on Iran, Mr. Javaid Rehman, to support him. In his litigation he stated that the guards had told him, “We do not answer to any person, state, or even the UN, we are here to deprive you of the right to live.”!
The political prisoner also posting a message from Rasht Lakan prison on February 11, 2022, wrote: “… Velayat-e-Faqih, Khamenei and Ebrahim Raisi even deprived the people of Isfahan of water. Velayat-e-Faqih means nurturing terrorists like Qasim Soleimani and Hassan Nasrollah, Velayat-e-Faqih means organizing and supporting terrorist groups such as the Revolutionary Guards, and Hezbollah in Lebanon. Velayat-e-Faqih, in a word, means thugs like Khamenei, a murderer whose hand is stained with the blood of the youth and the people of Iran, and even the people of Syria, Lebanon and Yemen.”
