Mehran Gharabaghi’s life is in danger due to unconsciousness and lack of doctor in Ahvaz prison
The news received from Sheyban prison in Ahvaz indicates that Mehran Gharabaghi is unconscious due to an unknown viral disease and there is no doctor to treat this political prisoner so his life is in danger.
Human Rights Center, no to prison – no to execution, August 18, 2022, an informed source informed about the unconsciousness of Mehran Gharabaghi, a political prisoner imprisoned in Sheyban Ahvaz prison, and said: ” Mehran Gharabaghi has infected with a virus disease and as a result has become unconscious. Other inmates took him to the Shiban prison clinic but were told that there was no doctor. “Now this prisoner’s life is in danger.”
This source added: “Other prisoners took him to the clinic, but there was no doctor. They asked that he be tested to determine his illness, but because there was no doctor in the prison, this request was not answered either.
This prisoner also suffers from heart disease and severe skin disease, but he is not cared for in prison.
Also, his lawyer announced that Mehran Gharabaghi ‘s arrest is illegal, and bail should be issued for him. However, the request for bail for Mr. Gharabaghi has been repeatedly rejected by the first branch of the Mahshahr Revolutionary Court.
Mehran Gharabaghi has been in detention for 34 months now.
This political prisoner has been in limbo since his arrest and is continuously under pressure from the Ministry of inteligence.
The Human Rights Center no to prison no to execution has repeatedly warned about the conditions of Mehran Gharabaghi, neither to prison nor to execution. The life of this political prisoner is in danger. Ahvaz prison officials and the judiciary are responsible for the life and health of this political prisoner.
About the political prisoner Mehran Gharabaghi
Mehran Gharabaghi, born in 1992, is a resident of Sarhad Agha village, Behbahan city, and has a bachelor’s degree in agriculture. On January 18, 2020, he was arrested by IRGC intelligence agents along with Majid Khademi, and after about 1 month, he was transferred to Behbahan Prison after the interrogation process was over.
Mehran Gharabaghi was tried on April 25, 2021, in Mahshahr Court by Judge Afshon.
He was charged with “propaganda against the regime, membership in the People’s Mojahedin and communication with the People’s Mojahedin news channels, participation in destruction and burning, participation in the disruption of public order, participation in the manufacture of civilian incendiary materials and corruption in the world.”
In his previous case, Mehran Gharabaghi was sentenced to 3 years in prison by the Revolutionary Court on the charges of “insulting Khamenei and propagandizing against the regime”, two years of which have passed.
On Monday, July 12, 2021, this political prisoner, along with Mohammad Hossein Ansari Far, was suddenly transferred from Behbahan Prison to Ahvaz Intelligence Detention Center and was interrogated. Intelligence agents filed a case against him and took this political prisoner to court.
It is worth noting that his previous case has not yet been closed and despite being taken to court many times, but he sent back to prison without any results.
The Mahshahr court set a bail of 3 billion tomans for the release of Mehran Gharabaghi, so that he would be released until the date of the final assignment of his case, but according to the order of the intelligence, his release was opposed even with the payment of bail.
